We’ve made a start by listing some of the groups and societies which are active in the villages, but there’s scope to do a lot more - and this is where YOU come in. If you’re a member of a voluntary group we haven’t listed, please get in touch and we’ll give your group a FREE listing and a link to your group’s own website if it has one. If your group has no website you can have a page on this one for just £10 a year - see “ADVERTISE”.

If you run a business in the parish and would like to advertise on the website, please click the “ADVERTISE” tab for more information.

If you are an individual with a contribution to make, we want to hear from you. There are many possibilities - just tell us what you want on your website. How about a “letters page”? We also aim to provide a showcase for local talent, so if you have any stories, poems, photographs or videos you’d like to share, please contact us. You must own the copyright of anything you offer for publication.

So if you have any contribution to offer, or just want to ask a question, please email the webmaster at BarwickAndScholes.com. NB this isn’t a hyperlink, to reduce spam. You’ll need to type the email address fully, replacing the “at” with “@”.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

This website has been published as a public service by members of All Saints and Saint Philip’s churches. It is not just a church website, although it will contain a lot of information about the churches in the parish.

It is a community website. As such we encourage all members of the community to submit material for publication on the website. For this website to reflect the community it aims to serve, we need the community to be involved. We need news stories, opinion, photographs, video...

We still need your help!
Website content last updated 30 June
THIS WEBSITE IS SHUTTING DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE UNTIL OCTOBER 2008
New on 4 June:

CHURCH DIARY updated

New on 17 May:

Parish Council: Barwick and Scholes Playing Fields Committee minutes added.

After a long period where we have struggled to keep the website updated regularly on a voluntary basis, it has reluctantly been decided to suspend adding new content to the website until new software and hosting facilities are in place. This will probably take until October 2008 (but it could be longer - you know how things are with computers!).

Once the upgrade has been completed, it will be possible for qualifying groups, businesses and individuals to update their own sections or pages on this website as often as they see fit without intervention from the website management. We will also continue to add video clips and news stories on an ad hoc basis.

The issue of paying the website’s running costs has also got to be addressed, as income has been far outstripped by expenses so far. As a result, we will be actively seeking commercial advertising and sponsorship in order to keep the site in the black and ensure its future.

We will continue to give free publicity on the home page to any local community event within the parish. Email events@barwickandscholes.com. Events outside the parish, and commercial events like concerts, can be advertised too - go HERE for more details.

To that tiny minority of Scholes and Barwick residents who have supported the website so far by providing copy, artwork etc, THANK YOU!

To everybody else - this website could be a valuable resource for our villages. It will only reach its full potential if YOU join in by telling us what’s going on in your village, or telling us what you would like to see on the website.

For example, we could have a web forum (there are currently good reasons why we don’t, but we could revisit that idea if someone came forward who’d be be willing to moderate the forum).

We could publish your photographs or letters. We could show your videos. The sky’s the limit.

Thanks for your support so far -

We’ll be back!
