We’ve made a start by listing some of the groups and societies which are active in the villages, but there’s scope to do a lot more - and this is where YOU come in. If you’re a member of a voluntary group we haven’t listed, please get in touch and we’ll give your group a FREE listing and a link to your group’s own website if it has one. If your group has no website you can have a page on this one for just £10 a year - see “ADVERTISE”.

If you are an individual with a contribution to make, we want to hear from you. There are many possibilities - just tell us what you want on your website. How about a “letters page”? We also aim to provide a showcase for local talent, so if you have any stories, poems, photographs or videos you’d like to share, please contact us. You must own the copyright of anything you offer for publication.

This website has been published as a public service by members of All Saints and Saint Philip’s churches. It is not just a church website, although it will contain a lot of information about the churches in the parish.
It is a community website. As such we encourage all members of the community to submit material for publication on the website. For this website to reflect the community it aims to serve, we need the community to be involved. We need news stories, opinion, photographs, video...

This website was launched by VPS Limited in 2007 as a free service to the community, in the hope that local groups and businesses would support it with information, news stories and advertising. With a few notable exceptions, that didn’t happen.
However the idea of a website serving the communities of Barwick and Scholes hasn’t gone away. The parish council recently launched its own site: barwickandscholespc.com which will carry all the parish council news from now on. As a result we are dropping the parish council pages from this site and replacing them with a hyperlink to the new site from the directory.
This site has been archived, which means no new content will be added unless and until there are enough people helping to make the process viable. However we hope you will continue to enjoy the various video clips and articles on this site.
To that tiny minority of Scholes and Barwick residents who have supported the website so far by providing copy, artwork etc, THANK YOU!
To everybody else - this website could be a valuable resource for our villages. It will only reach its full potential if YOU join in by telling us what’s going on in your village, or telling us what you would like to see on the website.
The website will remain online for the moment. If we decide to relaunch, there will be a redesign and announcements will be made in the two villages. The site will still be free to use but it will need advertising to pay its way, so if you run a business in Scholes or Barwick, or anywhere else with customers in those places, we want your business. The rates will be very competitive.
As for the content, well we have our own ideas but we want yours too. We could publish your photographs or letters. We could show your videos. The sky’s the limit.
