4    MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES

Allotment Barrier : the Clerk reported that the barrier had been re-set and was now operating quite satisfactorily.

Parking of Vehicles at entrance to football field : there was still concern at a number of cars parkingf in front of the gate and suggested that PCSO Dan Sillers should be requested to speak with the residents concerned.

5    CLUB REPORTS

a.    Bowling Club

It was reported that membership was about the same at 68 with 2 vacancies but unfortunately there was no junior team due to lack of a leader although some of the older boys were now playing in the senior teams. The weather had been poor of late but the green was in good condition. The fencing which had blown down during gales had been repaired  and now looked very smart.
The indoor sections activities had now ceased with an average attendance of 40 on Mondays and Wednesdays and they had enjoyed a successful winter season.

b.    Cricket  Club

Keith Leckenby reported that the new season was underway despite the wet weather and there were 2 senior teams and 4 junior teams although more support in the coaching department would be helpful. Planning permission had been received for the new storage shed/garage. The driveway/track was in need of some attention and it was suggested that Roger Moscrop be approached for assistance with “skelpins” (old tarmac)

c.    Football Club

The season had not been too successful on the field but off field activities were progressing well with management and coaching issues being resolved. The Saturday team finished rock bottom but the Sunday side had almost been promoted. There was now a link to Garforth Town FC with a number of their young players coming to play at Barwick. There was also good liaison with the Cricket Club with few clashes this year. Some footballs were still going into the Bowls Club although not too many. Everything was looking good for next season when it was also hoped that some sponsorship and financial help would enable the pitch to be kept in better condition.

d.    Tennis Club

New Tennis Chairman Peter Hayton reported that there were 2 mens teams, one mixed and one for juniors. The Club had finished as runners up in the Barkeston Ash League. Memberhip was increasing and the resurfaced courts were playing well. There was now a need for fine weather in order that the courts could be colour painted following the              re-tarmacing. There are 30 youngsters taking part in the Club’s Junior coaching sessions and in addition they are establishing a better liaison with the primary school who they hope will make use of the courts free of charge during the school day.

e.     Allotments

Peter Spearman reported that there had been significant crime with a number of break ins. However it was difficult to suggest a workable solution and insurance cover was impossible to arrange, The Clerk referred to a number of plots which were not kept in good order and proposed sending a letter with renewals as there a number of residents now on the waiting list. It was suggested that half plots might be offered. The trackway was also in need of attention.

6    ANY OTHER BUSINESS
There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 8 pm
